MGM star of the 1940s and 1950s best known for her “Technicolor red” hair. Films range from the musical ‘Three Little Words’ (1950) to the noir ‘Reign of Terror’ (1949) to the sci-fi ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’ (1959). In the 1952, she married Fernando Lamas (their son Lorenzowas born in 1958). Shortly after she gave birth to Lorenzo, she began making less and less appearances in both film and television.
Fernando Lamas later divorced Dahl in 1960 to marry Esther Williams (Dahl later had two other children from two different marriages), but the star was devoted to her son (later appearing in a film with him in 1991). From 1981 to 1984, she appeared on the soap opera One Life to Live. Now retired and with 6 grandchildren, she now resides in both Palm Springs and New York City.
