After many years of paying his dues, Gowan broke into the mainstream in Canada with his ground breaking Criminal Mind video in 1985. The album had two follow-up hits Strange Animal and Guerilla Soldier. On the next album Moonlight Desires featured backing vocals by ex-Yes frontman Jon Anderson.
He later began performing under his full name Larry Gowan over the course of the 90’s after leaving CBS Records and going to the smaller Anthem Records (Rush, Max Webster)
He became the lead singer of Styx and began rehearsing new material and preparing to tour with them in 1999.
