Backus starred in Gilligan’s Island as the snobby but lovable Thurston Howell III.
After the shows end he continued to act and gain recognition in movies like, ‘Rebel Without a Cause’. Backus along with his wife wrote several books. After several years of battling Parkinson’s Disease a complication caused from pneumonia took his life on July 3rd 1989.
