Steve Jones was the guitar player of the Sex Pistols. He and drummer Paul Cook resided in the shadows of Sid and Johnny. They were “the other guys” in Sex Pistols.

What happened to:

Steve went on to attempt a number of failed efforts, playing up the “ex-Sex Pistol” thing as much as possible. Attempts included a horrid effort in Checkered Past in the mid-80s (a shameless attempt at a “punk supergroup” during the heydey of things like Asia *groan*) featuring Micheal De Barres and couple other nobodys.
Jones took part in the Sex Pistols “Filthy Lucre” reunion tour in the late 90s.

In ’95 he formed Neurotic (Boy) Outsiders – with John Taylor (ex Duran Duran, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum ex-Guns N Roses) – thanks to Neil Simpson for bringing that one to our attention.

When not auctioning his guitars on Ebay, Jones seems to be reviving failed groups such as The Usual Suspects with De Barres, who gig in east L.A. or the appropriately named The Nobodys with drummer ex Pistol drummer Paul Cook.

Update April/04: Now hosting the Jonesy’s Jukebox radio show on Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles.
