David Prowse is a weightlifter and actor from England. He is most famous for his portrayal of Darth Vader in Star Wars Episodes IV, V, and VI. At his peak he was 265 lbs. and 6’6.5″. He spoke all of the lines during the films, but his voice was replaced by that of James Earl Jones in post production. This is a sore spot with Prowse.
He appeared in some other television and film after Star Wars. He wanted to be Darth Vader in Episode III but was turned down. He is active in the convention circuit. Due to arthritis he has lost the use of both of his arms. He is the vice president of the Physically Handicapped and Able-bodied Association.
