Astin appeared in many films and television shows but is mostly known for his role as the father, Gomez Addams on ‘The Addams Family’ original series. Never had a family been so blissfully dysfunctional as The Addams Family’. Gomez’s strange behaviour was only outdone for the love he had for his family.
After The Addams Family series ended Astin continued to have a successful career, appearing regularly on tv shows, films and even theatre. In an Baltimore Examiner interview about playing the role of Edgar Allen Poe in Edgar Allan Poe: Once Upon a Midnight, Astin said of his acting experience:
“We all struggle, and I had plenty of that, but I’ve had a great time. I’ve done hundreds of TV shows and 30 to 40 movies, and I love acting. I’m very happy having done the Poe. That’s been really terrific.”
