Max Baer, Jr. is the son of heavyweight boxing champ Max Baer and had the looks to prove it. His big, hulking frame and handsome face won him the role that turned out to be both blessing and curse, that of Jethro Bodine on The Beverly Hillbillies. Typecast as a big, dumb hick, Baer had trouble finding work after the show went off the air.

Where are they now?

Unable to find work as an actor, Baer turned to work behind the camera. He wrote and produced Macon County Line, and directed both Ode to Billy Joe and The Wild McCullochs. A very shrewd businessman who bears no resemblance to his dumb character Jethro, Baer is also trying to break into the gambling business in Las Vegas with plans for a casino based on The Beverly Hillbillies.

I watched Max as a child and loved him in The Beverly Hillbillies. I wished he was respected in Hollywood and given the opportunity to use his skills and give him work. Many blessings. I love your full name Maximillion, hope to see you on the screen soon
