Married in 1945 to actor John Agar had daughter in 1948, divorced in 1949. Retired from film at age 29 that same year. Married Charles Alden Black in the mid 50’s and they had 2 children. Hosted children’s shows, was a United States delegate to the UN (1969); became first female U.S Chief of Protocol in 1976; and had a couple of ambassadorships: Ghana in ’74-76 and the Czech Republic ’89-93.
