Originating in Boston in 1977 and riding (or perhaps, defining) the New Wave sound, the Cars cranked out 6 million selling albums in a row including hits like Candy-O, Let’s Go, and My Best Friend’s Girl, which hit #3. They broke up in the late 80’s.

Where are they now?

Rick Ocasek did a few solo albums, Beatitude (1982), Fireball Zone (1990), Quick Change World (1996) and others. His mainstay post-Cars was as a producer working with Weezer, Bad Religion and Guided By Voices.
Elliot Easton produced Middlescence for Amy Rigby in 1998, and toured with Creedence Clearwater Revisited.

Orr formed Big People, but in October 2000 succumbed to cancer of the pancreas.
